Mayor Tony Perry and the Township Committee proclaimed April 30, 2022 as Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Awareness Day in honor of Kathryn Ann (Katie) McCarthy. Katie was a vibrant and loving young woman who always embraced life. She was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension in August 2012 and passed away on April 30, 2013 after a valiant fight against the disease.

Katie's loved ones participated in a volunteer cleanup at Ideal Beach April 30th to celebrate her life and raise awareness for both PH and their Belford-based nonprofit sMiles for Katie.

Mayor Perry was honored to recognize Katie in this way and also proclaim April 30, 2022 as Katie McCarthy Day in Middletown Township.
